Abstract

Background. In conditions of a tough political struggle its participants use different methods and techniques, including such an effective element as bright emphatic speech based on metaphor using. The article is devoted to the study of metaphor in political discourse.
Materials and methods. The objectives were implemented through analyzing different examples of political discourse (newspaper articles, biographies, official papers).
Results. The resurce analysis has led to a discovery of a set of similar metaphor models frequently used in modern political discourse.
Conclusions. Metaphor is the richest source for creation and realization of a language picture of the world. Besides, political metaphor is one of the most important and widely used devices of language manipulation. It can remain in a man’s memory for a long time. Being a powerful device of persuasion, metaphor helps to achieve the main goal – a political victory.
